Fried, smoked, toasted, they adorn all sorts of courses, adding a bit of texture and crunch to familiar dishes you'd expect south of the border. Insects are plentiful, easy to catch, and rich in protein so it is not surprising that foxes and many other animals eat them. Grasshoppers are small and incredibly jumping insects, which most of us tried to catch, even when they were young, leaving somewhere outside the city. These widespread insects come in all shapes, sizes, and colors and live in a variety of different habitats. Other features vary according to their habitat. Specificially, the type of fungi called Entomophthora grylli affects grasshoppers when they climb on plants that are infexted with the fungus. Red foxes will store surplus food under piles of leaves, bury them in the ground, or hide them in snowpacks. Red foxes can be beneficial to man because of their hunting activities. Arctic foxes eat fish and mollusks, whereas desert foxes will consume rabbits, lizards, snakes and even earthworms. Adult length is 1 to 7 centimeters (0.4 to 2.75 inches), depending on the species. How do grasshoppers defend themselves, then? Foxes will also eat grass, fungi and grains. wolves, jackals and domestic dogs. Grasshoppers make up 3 families in the Squirrel order and are relatives of crickets and locusts.
